 The+one yapısı, insanların veya nesnelerin yerini göstermek için kullanılır:

Which bicycle do you like? -The one next to you.
Which man stole my car? -The one in front of the store.
Which car(s) did they buy? -The one(s) you like so much.

 ‘It’ in kullanımı:

 ‘it sözde özne (empty subject) olarak kullanıldığında hava, iklim durumu, mesafe, zaman
vb. durumları belirten cümlelerde kullanılır:

It’s Wednesday. (zaman)
It’s ten metres to my friend. (uzaklık)
It’s snowing. (hava durumu)
It’s smoky in here. (ortam)

It’s time .... ile: It’s time to study.

since ile: It’s two weeks since we last met.
take ile: It takes two hours from Ezine to Biga.
say ile: It says here there was a robbery case in Beyoğlu.

 Ayrıca It doesn’t matter, It’s no use gibi ifadelerde de kullanılır:

It doesn’t matter what they say.
(Onların ne dediğinin önemi yok)

It’s no use warning him.
(Onu uyarmanın faydası yok)

 ‘It’ in fiil cümlesi yerine özne olarak kullanılması:

 Bazen it ile başlayan cümleler mastar (infinitive), isim fiil (gerund), isim cümleciği (noun
clause) ile devam eder:

It’s difficult to make a decision.
To make a decision is difficult.
(Karar vermek çok zor)

It’s meaningless warning him.
Warning him is meaningless.
(Onu uyarmak anlamsız)

It doesn’t matter how you come.
How you come doesn’t matter.
(Nasıl gelirsen (gel) önemli değil)
