STORIES OF RAMADAN
By Ramadan time, our dining table gets beautified
the most. Our table is covered with many delicious foods
prepared by my mother. Even my father who sometimes
can’t make it to dinners does everything to make it to iftar
table during Ramadan. The conversation we have around
dinner table while waiting for azan is priceless.
Once again our house is busy for iftar. I and my sister
help our mother and are listening to what she says at the
same time:
- We have served the soups, mom!
- Forks, spoons, plates. All set!
- The salad is ready too!
There goes the awesome smell of pitta bread and my
father comes in. I run to take pitta breads from my father.
And azan is about to begin. We fastly sit around the dinner
table to not to be late for iftar. My father smiled, caressed
our heads and sat down on his chair.
- So... Who did fast for the entire day today?
I and my sister answered at the same time:
- Promise is a promise. We haven’t broken our fasting
today.
- Well done, my girls!
Our father, during the entire Ramadan, asks us every
day if we miss fasting a day. I and my sister are happy to
hear this questio every day because it shows that our father
