edat whom ve which ilgi zamirlerinden önce de kullanılmaktadır.
Tanımlayıcı olan ilgi cümlecikleri (defining relative clauses)’nde iyelik belirtme:
Defining relative clause’larda tanımladığımız isim iyelik belirtiyorsa hem insanlar hem de
nesne ve hayvanlar için whose kullanılır:
The man reported the theft. His car had been stolen:
The man whose car had been stolen reported the theft to the police.

Of which de nesneler için iyelik belirtirken whose yerine kullanılabilir. Daha çok non-
defining relative clause (tanımlayıcı olmayan ilgi cümlecikleri)’larda kullanılır:.
He can’t remember the author of the book. Its title is _War and Peace_.
He can’t remember the author of the book the title of which is _War and Peace_.
(Adı _War and Peace_ olan kitabın yazarını hatırlayamıyor)
Whose bir isim (noun) ile kullanıldığında bir edatın nesnesi olarak da kullanılabilir. Edat
whose’dan önce veya cümleciğin sonunda kullanılabilir:
In 1970, I caught a serious illness.
I still suffer from its effects.
In 1970, I caught a serious illness whose effects I still suffer from.
In 1970, I caught a serious illness from whose effects I still suffer.
In 1970, I caught a serious illness the effects of which I still suffer from.
