 Aynı zamanda arada sırada olan olasılıkları anlatırken kullanabiliriz:

Measles can be very dangerous. (It’s probable)
She can talk on and on for ages. (It’s probable)

Could

 Bu kiplik may/might gibi olasılık bildirir:

I wonder where Servet is.
-He may/might/could be in his village.
(Servet’in nerede olduğunu merak ediyorum. –Köyünde olmalı.)

The phone is ringing.
-It may/might/could be Fatih.
(Telefon çalıyor. –Fatih olabilir)

 Soru sorarken could ve might kullanılabilir. Fakat may kullanılmaz.

Might/could Bill be looking for us?
(Bill bizi arıyor olabilir mi?)

Might/could your mother be waiting for you?
(Annen seni bekliyor olabilir mi?)

 Could have + V3 yapısını may/might have + V3 yerine kullanabiliriz:

Do you know where my bag is?
-You may/might/could have left it in the car.
(Çantamın nerede olduğunu biliyor musun? –Arabada bırakmış olabilirsin)

 Soru sorarken might/could have + V3 kullanılır:

Might/could they have informed you to the police?
(Seni polise ihbar etmiş olabilirler mi?)

 Olumsuz cümlelerde anlam değişir:

He was so far away; thus he couldn’t have seen you.
(Çok uzaktaydı; bu yüzden seni görmüş olamaz)

I wonder why she didn’t say hello.
-She might not have seen you.(Belki gördü; belki de görmedi)
