           If’in koşul bildiren anlamından farklı anlamlardaki kullanımı:

            If =when:

           If/when you boil water, it turns into steam.

            If = although/even if:

           He will go for a picnic, if/although/even if it snows.

            Whether’in yerine if:

           We want to know if you can help us.

           Mixed tense sequences in conditional sentences:

           Bu bölümde temel cümle (main clause)’deki tense ve koşul cümle (if-clause)’sindeki tense’in
           farklı  type’lara ait olduğunu  göreceğiz. Bu tür  cümlelerde  dikkat etmemiz gereken, eylemin
           asıl ne zaman  yapıldığı veya söylenen ifadenin ne zaman ait olduğunu tespit etmektir. Aşağı-
           daki  tablodaki örneklere dikkat  ederseniz bu tür cümlelerin  mantığını çok rahat  kavrayacak-
           sınız:

           Type-1                 Type-3
           If he is so hungry,   he shouldn’t have missed the breakfast.
           If she is as clever as you think,    she should have been very rich now.
           Type-2                 Type-3
           If she was a man,    they would  have given her the job.
           If I were you,       I would have applied for the job.
           Type-3                 Type-2
           If he had saved  money,   he wouldn’t be poor now.
           If I had seen the doctor,    I wouldn’t be so ill now.
           Type- 2                Type-1
           If he played basketball yesterday,   he will be feeling very tired.
           If she missed the train,   she won’t be here on time.
