 Gelecek zaman bildiren ifadelerde for atılabilir:

She will stay here (for) two days.

From..........to veya from........till/until:

Bir eylemin belirli bir zamandan diğer belirli bir zaman kadar olacağını veya olduğunu belirt-
mek için kullanılırlar:

All of us will work from 6 to/till 9.
They played basketball from afternoon to/till/until evening.

 Konuşma dilinde from atılabilir.

He will study (from) 8 till 12.
They worked here(from) April till/until May.

 Genellikle stay, live, wait gibi süreklilik (continuity) bildiren fiillerle kullanılır:

She will live in this town until/till January.
We will wait here till/until Tuesday.

By:

 By + zaman ifadesi özellikle future perfect tense ile kullanılır:

I will have read all those books by the end of March.
By the end of this week, they will have been in Istanbul.

 By + saat/tarih şeklinde kullanılabilir:

You had better be here by 8 o'clock.
By 1940, the number had grown to 185 millions.

'During', 'in', 'throughout':

 During'ten sonra daima bir isim gelir. Bütün bir periyodu belirtir ;'esnasında' anlamına
gelir:

Freddie had worked with her at Oxford during the war.
We only met twice during the whole time we were neighbours.

 In, üstteki örneklerde during yerine kullanılabilir. Fakat belli bir zaman süreci yoksa in,
during yerine kullanılamaz:

He didn't learn much during his teacher-training.
