In case ile kullanılan tense’ler:

Main verb (Ana fiil)

future present tense veya
present + in case + should
present perfect

conditional past tense veya
past tense + in case + should
past perfect

NOTE:
In case genellikle if ile karıştırılmaktadır. Ancak sahip oldukları anlam çok farklıdır.
Bu farkı örnekle görelim:

We will buy some more food in case Mr. Koldemir comes.
We will buy some more food if Mr. Koldemir comes.

Birinci örnekte Mr. Koldemir’in geleceği belli değil ama ‘ne olur ne olmaz biraz daha fazla
yiyecek satın alacağız’

İkinci örnekte ise ‘Mr. Koldemir gelirse biraz daha yiyecek satın alacağız gelmezse satın
almayacağız’ anlamı vardır.

lest/for fear (that):

He ran away, lest he should/might be seen.
(Görülebilir diye (korkusuyla) kaçtı)

I will phone you tomorrow, lest you should forget the date of the meeting.
(Toplantının tarihini unutabilirsin diye (korkusuyla) yarın sana telefon edeceğim)

They evacuated the area, lest war should break out.
(Savaç çıkar endişesiyle bölgeyi boşalttılar)

We offered him some more money for fear (that) he might go to another team.
(Başka bir takıma gider korkusuyla ona biraz daha fazla para teklif ettik)

The guests spoke in whispers for fear (that) they might wake the baby.
(Misafirler , bebeyi uyandırabilirler korkusuyla fısıltılarla konuştular)
