 Adverbial Clauses of Result:

Sonuç belirten zarf cümlecikleri so, so that, so + sıfat/zarf + that, such (a) + sıfat + isim +
that ile yapılırlar:

so + sıfat + that

Her dress was so elegant that they couldn’t stand looking at her.
(Elbisesi o kadar zarifti ki kendilerini ona bakmaktan alamadılar)

The book was so boring that I gave up reading it half way through.
(Kitap o kadar sıkıcıydı ki yarısında okumayı bıraktım)

Their dog was so fierce that no one dared come near it
(Onların köpeği o kadar vahşiydi ki kimse yanına yaklaşmaya cesaret edemedi)

so + zarf + that

She was dressed so elegantly that they couldn’t help looking at her.
(O kadar zarif giyinmişti ki kendilerini ona bakmaktan alamadılar)

She drove so carelessly that she had an accident ten minutes after her departure.
(O kadar dikkatsizce araba kullandı ki kalkışından on dakika sonra kaza geçirdi)

Peter speaks so foolishly that his friends can’t help laughing at him.
(Peter o kadar aptalca konuşur ki arkadaşları kendilerini gülmekten alamazlar)

Ann studied so hard that she got the highest mark in the examination.
(Ann o kadar sıkı ders çalıştı ki sınavda en yüksek notu aldı)

such (a) + sıfat +isim + that

It was such a good book that I read it till its end.
(Öylesine güzel bir kitaptı ki onu sonuna kadar okudum)

She has such a good car that I will borrow it from her.
(Öylesine güzel bir arabası var ki onu ondan ödünç alacağım)

Galatasaray has such wonderful players that no team can beat it.
(Galatasaray’ın öylesine muhteşem oyuncuları var ki hiçbir takım onu yenemez)

It was such lovely weather that we all went swimming.
(Hava öylesine hoştu ki hepimiz yüzmeye gittik)

 So’ dan sonra much, many, few, little gibi miktar belirten ifadeleri kullanabiliriz ; fakat,
such’dan sonra sadece a lot of kullanabiliriz:

There was so much noise that we couldn’t hear what the teacher said.
(Öylesine çok gürültü vardı ki öğretmenin ne dediğini duyamadık)
