SENTENCE ADVERBS
(Cümle zarfları)
Cümle zarfları cümleyi veya hikayeyi anlatanın düşüncesini niteler. Bunların cümle içinde
kullanılabildikleri yerler sınırlıdır. Cümle başında veya ortasında kullanılabilirler.
Bunların bazıları ifadenin kesinlik derecesini vurgular; actually, in fact, really, apparently,
obviously, certainly, evidently, presumably, probably, undoubtedly, definitely, perhaps,
possibly, surely gibi.
Actually, it might be a good idea to stop recording now.
They said it would come, but evidently they failed to send it.
Perhaps, the weather will change tomorrow.
If nothing is done there will certainly be an economic crisis.
The bomb was presumably intended to go off while the meeting was in progress.
Obviously, I don’t need to say how important this project is.

Diğer cümle zarflarını, naturally, frankly, honestly, (un)fortunately, admittedly, officially
gibi, cümlenin her yerinde kullanmamız mümkündür. Ama bazen zarfın cümlenin değişik
yerlerinde kullanılması sonucu anlam farkı doğabilir:
Honestly, he didn't get the money. (cümle zarfı)
He didin't get the money honestly. (hal zarfı)
Hopefully, the new legislation will lead to some problems. (cümle zarfı)
She smiled hopefully. (hal zarfı)
