           Aynı şekilde bazı phrase (kelime grubu)’lerden sonra da kullanılır. Bunlardan bazıları:

          do what one can             be able                  be about
          make up one’s mind       take the trouble    turn out
          make an effort                do one’s best        set out

          The money turned out to be forgery.
          The lesson is about to finish.
          He is able to drive a car.
          She took the trouble to fight personally.


           Amaç ifade eder. So as to, in order to gibi:

          They went to Antakya  to/ so as to / in order  to visit St. Peter Church.
          We are working to / so as to /in order to earn money.


           Nesne + to-infinitive kullandığımızda nesnenin amacından bahsederiz. Bu genellikle
             belgisiz zamirlerle yapılır:

          She didn’t buy anything to make a cake.
          He wants something to cheer him up.
          They need a knife to cut the bread.

           Bazen hope, intend, mean, (would) like fiilleriyle gelecek veya hayal ürünü geçmiş ifade
          eder:

          He would like to see that film. (şimdi veya ilerde)
          He would like to have seen it.  (daha önce izlememiş)
          He would have liked to see it.  (O zaman izlemeye fırsatı yoktu)


           To-infinitive, be fiilinin complement (tamamlayıcısı)’i durumunda kullanılabilir:

          His promise is to be at home as early as possible.
          Their fault was to weaken the defence.


           Do fiilinden sonra be+ to (to isteye bağlı olarak kullanılır) getirilebilir:

          All I do is (to) study according to a programme.
          What he did was (to) turn off the lights.
