BARE INFINITIVE
(‘TO’ ALMAYAN EYLEMLİKLER)

Modal (kip belirteci)’lardan sonra to-infinitive kullanılmaz:

He can swim very well.
They may cancel the meeting.
You should find another job.
I would rather study than watch TV.
She had better give up smoking.

‘Let’ ve ‘make’ fiillerinden sonra to-infinitive kullanılmaz:

 Let, kip belirteci olarak kullanıldığında öneri bildirir:

Let’s drink a cup of tea.
(Bir bardak çay içelim)

Let’s go on a holiday.
(Tatile gidelim)

 Let’s’in öneri cümlelerindeki olumsuz şekli:

Let’s not go to the cinema.
Don’t let’s go to the cinema.

 Let, normal fiil olarak kullanıldığında izin vermek manasında kullanılır, fiilden önce isim
veya zamir alır:

Please let me change my computer, will you?
Don’t let him bother you.
He didn’t let us play football.
Let him help you.

 Make fiili ettirgen çatı (causative)’da kullanıldığı zaman isim veya zamirden sonra to’suz
fiille kullanılır, ‘compel = zorlamak’ manasına gelir:

Ann made me change my mind.
(Ann beni fikrimi değiştirmeye zorladı)

I made the students tell me the truth.
(Öğrencilere gerçeği söylettim)

 Edilgen çatıda (passive voice) make fiilinden sonra to-infinitive kullanılır:
The students were made to tell the truth.
(Öğrenciler gerçeği söylemeye zorlandı)

I was made to change my mind.
(Fikrimi değiştirmeye zorlandım)
