She complained that no one ever took her advice.

He promised that I would have the money back by the end of the week.

“I will always love you”
His fiancée whispered that she would always love him.

(Soru cümleleri)

Indirect speech‟i soru cümleleri için de kullanabiliriz. Soru cümlelerini aktarırken düz cümle
(statement)‟de uyguladığımız kuralları aynen uygularız. Aktarma sözünde say ve tell fiillerinin
yerine, ask, want to know, wonder, inquire fiillerini kullanabiliriz. Aktarılan soru, soru olmak
tan çıkar ve soru işareti kullanılmaz.

Şimdi soru cümlelerini birkaç grupta inceleyelim:

 Indirect Yes/No questions:

Bunlar direk yardımcı fiille başlayan soru cümleleridir. Bunları aktarırken aktarma sözünden
sonra if ya da whether kullanırız:

“Are you still inside?”
He asked me if/whether I was still inside.
(Benim halen içerde olup olmadığımı sordu.)

“May I come in?”
She asked if/whether she might come in.
(İçeri girip giremeyeceğini sordu.)

“Have you done your homework?”
He asked me if/whether I had done my homework.
(Bana ödevimi yapıp yapmadığımı sordu.)

“Do you play tennis?”
She asked him if/whether he played tennis.
(Ona tenis oynayıp oynamadığını sordu.)
