 Would like, would hate, would rather, would prefer gibi yapılar aktarılırken değişikliğe
uğramaz:

“I would like to sit down,” said John.
John said that he would like to sit down.
(John oturmak istediğini söyledi.)

“I would rather walk than take a bus,” said Bob.
Bob said that he would rather walk than take a bus.
(Bob otobüse binmektense yürümeyi tercih ettiğini söyledi.)

needn’t

 Gerekliliğin olmadığını ifade eden don’t have to anlamındaki needn’t aktarılırken
değişikliğe uğramaz ya da yerine didn’t have to kullanılır:

“You needn’t/don’t have to memorise all of the poems,” the teacher said.
The teacher said that we needn’t/didn’t have to memorise all of the poems.
(Öğretmen şiirlerin hepsini ezberlememizin gerekmediğini söyledi.)

 Koşul cümleleri (conditional statements)’nin aktarılması:

 Type-1 koşul cümleciklerinin tense‟i aktarılırken bir derece past olur:

“If you hurry up, you will catch your train,” she said.
She said that if I hurried up I would catch my train.
(Acele edersem, trenime yetişeceğimi söyledi.)

 Type-2 koşul cümleciklerinin tense‟i aktarılırken değişikliğe uğramaz:

“If you hurried up, you would catch your train,” she said.
She said that if I hurried up I would catch my train.
(Acele edersem trenime yetişebileceğimi söyledi.)

 Type-3 koşul cümlecikleri de aktarılırken tense değişikliğine uğramazlar:

“If you had hurried up, you would have caught your train,” said she.
She said that if I had hurried up I would have caught my train.
(Acele etseydim trenime yetişebileceğimi söyledi.)
