 Ünlemler (exclamations)’in aktarılması:

“What a stupid boy you are!” he exclaimed.
He told me what a stupid boy I was.
He told me that I was a stupid boy.

“What a beautiful house it is!” she exclaimed.
She told me what a beautiful house it was.
She told me that it was a beautiful house.

 „Say’ ve ‘tell’ fiillerinin kullanımı ve onlar gibi kullanılabilen fiiller:

Daha önce de belirttiğimiz gibi say ve tell fiilleri bir sözü aktarırken kullandığımız aktarma
eylemleridir.

 Say, aktaracağımız cümlenin başında veya sonunda kullanılabilir:

Bob said, “We must leave early tomorrow.”
“We must leave early tomorrow”, Bob said.

 Say fiilini söyleyenin önünde de kullanmak mümkündür:

“We must leave early tomorrow”, said Bob.

 Daha önce de söylediğimiz gibi, say fiilinden sonra aktarmayı kime yaptığımızı
belirtmek istiyorsak fiilden hemen sonra to edatını kullanmalıyız:

“We must leave early tomorrow”, Bob said to me.

 Tell fiilinden sonra aktarmayı kime yaptığımızı belirtmemiz gerekir. Ama tell fiilinden
sonra to kullanılmaz:.

“We must leave early tomorrow”, Bob told me.

 Say ve tell fiilleri indirect cümleyi aktarırken cümlenin önünde yer alır:
Bob said (to me that) they must go early the next day.
Bob told me (that) they must go early the next day.
 Say ve tell fiillerinden başka kullanabileceğimiz yaygın fiiller vardır. Bunlar:

add complain point out
admit deny promise
answer explain protest
argue grumble remark
assure + obj object remind + obj
boast observe reply

“I can speak five languages fluently.”
He boasted that he could speak five languages fluently.
