CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

Türkçe’de karşılığı koşul cümlecikleri olan conditional sentences bir şeyin yapılabilmesi ve-
ya olabilmesi için başka bir durumun yerine getirilmesi gereği veya zorunluluğunu belirtirler.

Koşul cümleleri iki cümlecikten oluşur: If-clause (koşul cümleciği) ve main clause (ana
cümle).

If he helps me, I will give him a gift.
(Bana yardım ederse ona bir hediye vereceğim)

If you are hungry, prepare something to eat.
(Açsan yiyecek bir şeyler hazırla)

3 çeşit koşul cümleciği vardır. Bunları teker teker inceleyelim:

TYPE -1
En çok kullanılan yapı : If + simple present + 'II' future

Yukarı da da görüldüğü gibi type- 1 de koşul cümleciği present tense (geniş zaman) iken ana
cümle future tense (gelecek zaman)' dir.

If it rains, we won't be able to go swimming.
If you don't come early, he will go alone.
If she refuses him, he will commit suicide.

Bundan farklı olarak main clause (temel cümlede) da başka tense veya modal kullanabiliz:

 If + s. present + will be doing/will have done/will have been doing:

If they promote me, I will be working as a manager next week.
If you don't hurry up, the plane will have left.
If he stays till June, he will have been playing for this team for eight months.

If + s. present + may/might (possibility: olasılık):

If it snows until the next day, the road may/might be blocked.
If you don't take hasty action now, there may/might be a great unrest.

 If + s. present + may (permission: izin) veya can (izin/yetenek):

If you finish your homework within an hour, you may/can watch television.
If it stops raining, you may/can go for a walk.
