223             CONDITIONAL SENTENCES


            If + should:

           Bu yapı özellikle kibar ifadelerde, ricalarda,önerilerde kullanılır:

           If you should go to Ankara, don't forget to visit Anıtkabir.
           If you should phone him, give him my regards, please.


            If + will/would:

           Rica veya istek ifadelerinde kullanılır. 'Would'  'Will' den daha kibar ifadelerde  kullanılır:

           If you will/would  follow me, I will show you the way.

            İsteklilik (willingness) veya isteksizlik (unwillingness) belirten ifadelerde her ikisini
           kullanmamız mümkündür:

           If you will/would listen to me, I will be able to help you. (If you are willing)
           If he won't stop smoking, he'll catch a serious disease.  (If he is unwilling)


           NOT
            Normalde If-clause ' da will kullanılmaz. Fakat nadir olmasına rağmen, eylemin 'şimdi
           değil, daha sonra' olacağı fikrini vurgulamak için kullanılabilir.
           Karşılaştırın:

           If it suits you, I'll change the date of the examination.
           If it will suit you, I'll change the date of the examination.

            'If + want/wish'  yerine  daha kibar ifadelerde  'If + would like/would care'  kullanılabilir:

           If you would like to come, I'll get a ticket for you.
           If he would care to see the photos, you can bring them.


            If + can  (permission veya ability:

           İzin (permission) veya yetenek (ability) belirtir:

           If you can finish your homework earlier, I'll give you a present.
           If he can play guitar, tell him to come to our party.

            If + have/has to:

           Gereklilik, zorunluluk belirtir:

           If I have to prepare your meal, I won't be able to go with my friends.
           If  she has to stay here, she had better inform her parents.
